Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu on March 15 condemned allegations by the YSR Congress party that he was behind the murder of party leader YS Vivekananda Reddy, and claimed that evidence of the alleged murder was wiped out
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday, March 15 alleged that evidence was wiped out in the alleged murder of YSR Congress leader YS Vivekananda Reddy.
Condemning allegations by the opposition party that he is behind the murder, Naidu told a news conference on Friday night that the body of Vivekananda Reddy, which was lying in the bedroom, was shifted to the bathroom and all attempts were made to conceal the evidence by giving an impression that he died of cardiac arrest.
“If the murder has taken place in your house and all these attempts were made to clean the scene of crime, how can you blame us,” the Telugu Desam Party President asked YSRCP chief Reddy and Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh, YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
Vivekananda Reddy, a former state minister and a former MP, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district on Friday morning. He was the younger brother of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of Jaganmohan. After preliminary investigations, police said the YSRCP leader was murdered.
Naidu said before the police rushed to the scene, the blood marks were washed off. He alleged that the family members initially tried to project it as a natural death and even tried to convince police that he died of cardiac arrest while the injury marks on the body were clearly indicating that it was a murder.
“When the body was shifted to hospital and autopsy was done, they started saying it was a murder,” said Naidu.
Stating that police were doing their investigations in an impartial manner, Naidu said truth would come out.
Jagan earlier on Friday had demanded a CBI probe into the alleged murder of his uncle, and blamed the ruling TDP for the killing of Vivekananda.
Jagan said that TDP leadership was in power or the leadership was aware of the conspiracy whenever a death occurred in his family.
“When my grandfather YS Raja Reddy was murdered, TDP was in power, when there was an attempt on my life at Vizag airport, TDP was in power and when this murder happened, TDP was again in power,” he told reporters after paying tributes to Vivekananada Reddy.
“Two days before the helicopter crash in which my father Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy died, Chandrababu Naidu told the assembly that you (YSR) will not return and his remarks were boldly published in his favoured media,” Jagan said.
Jagan said only probe by an independent agency could bring out the facts. He alleged that the police were trying to divert the attention with wrong leads and fabricated evidence. “They have brought out a letter purported to be written by my uncle before dying which defies all logic,” he said.
